Mele Apana anchors the Hawaiian Airlines' Island Favorites Music, a Hawaiian music radio station on Hawaiian Airlines In-Flight Entertainment system with Billy V where they feature prominent Hawaiian music artists.
Mele Apana along with long-time radio personality, Lina Girl, was not a part of this mass layoff as they had already resigned weeks prior. In 2021, SummitMedia Corporation, owner of Hawaiian 105 Hawaiian 105 KINE, issued a mass layoff that included many Hawaii radio personalities including Billy V, Shannon Scott, and Wayne Maria. Together, they are known as "Da Kolohe Krew" and featured Hawaii artists of the past and those who would be the future of Hawaiian music. Mele Apana is best known for her work at Hawaiian 105 KINE where she anchored a morning radio talk show with long-time friend and Hawaii veteran radio personality, Shannon Scott. She had multiple stints on Power 104.3 and Island 98.5. In 1998, Mele Apana directly approached the program director of KCCN FM100 to be a part of its radio family. Together, they were able to build, establish, and grow multiple Hawaii radio stations that later earned top radio ratings in Hawaii. Mele Apana, Billy V, and Shannon Scott championed many radio stations early in their careers.
